Can You Play Outdoors?

There's nothing I love more than playing for outdoor weddings in good weather, but I do (sadly) have to be quite strict around protective measures to ensure both the harp, my body and your beautiful music are not being put at risk. This includes:

  1. If there is any chance of rain in the forecast, I will need to be undercover (such as a large parasol, awning or small gazebo).

  2. We will need a generously sized shaded area for the harp and electronics (in direct sun the harp strings can snap, I can't see display on my FX pedals and my electrical equipment can overheat).

  3. A hard, flat surface for the harp to stand on, such as concrete or well kept (not muddy) grass. This is due to the harps very delicate balance point, meaning on the wrong surface (like cobbles or on even a slight incline) it can very easily topple over.

  4. If it is colder than 10(ish) degrees (aka, cold enough that your elderly relatives will be uncomfortable) then it's likely too cold for me to play due to the loss of dexterity in my hands. Generally I can only play outdoors between March & October.

  5. Power access! If you're wanting anything other than acoustic tunes, I'll also need access to power.

If in doubt, send me a message and I'll more than happily brainstorm different options :)

What do you need provided?

With everything set up I need 1.8m x 1.5m space on flat solid ground. I'll also need access to power and some form of shade/shelter if performing outdoors. Also ideally somewhere to park (or at least unload) my car as close to where you’d like me to play as possible.

Can you move during the day?

Absolutely, it takes me 10-15 minutes to move everything and set up in a new spot, but at almost every wedding I'll move location between the Ceremony, Drinks Reception and/or wedding breakfast.

How does payment work?

I take a £100 deposit to secure the booking with the final sum due one month before your wedding date. Payments can be made via debit or credit card. If setting up a different payment plan will help make my services more accessible to you then please ask and we can figure something out.

Can we confirm times later?

Absolutely, once you’ve paid your deposit your date is officially blocked off in my diary. I like to have a rough idea of times if possible, but if you’re not certain right now or think you might want to add additional reception time later I’ll make a note and then just let you know if I get any other enquiries for later in the same day.

How far do you travel?

I can travel however far you'd like me to! The further you are from Hebden Bridge the more travel fee I have to charge to cover my additional time/petrol expenses (or accommodation if it's likely to be more than a 5 hour round trip). But I have previously travelled to Cornwall, Kent, North Wales, Sheffield, Central London and the Lake District for weddings. There are very few harpist offering my style of live looping / electroacoustic modern covers in the UK, so if it brings you as much joy as it does for me I'll travel to wherever you're celebrating!
